Forests
Home to animals found nowhere else, like the Zanzibar red colobus.
We help Tanzanian villages keep their forests standing, bring mangroves back to the shore and guard the beaches where turtles nest — with the people who live there leading the work.
Based in Tanga. Working from the Usambara Mountains to the Kilwa coast.

These are targets, not results. We'll publish progress against each one every year.
Mizizi is Swahili for roots. Trees hold the soil, mangroves hold the shore, and neighbours hold each other to the plan. We fund, train and stand behind villages that choose to protect what grows around them.
Home to animals found nowhere else, like the Zanzibar red colobus.
Mangroves and reefs that shelter fish, and the villages that fish them.
Every tree is planted, and guarded, by a neighbour.
ForestsVillage nurseries raise native trees from locally collected seed. Families plant them where the forest has thinned, and are paid to keep them alive through the first dry season.
CoastsFishing communities replant mangroves on cut-over mudflats and guard them through the fragile first years. More mangroves, more nursery grounds for fish.
CoastsIsland monitors walk the nesting beaches at night, log every nest and run simple reef surveys. Data that belongs to the community, shared with the people managing the marine park.
CommunitiesBeehives, fuel-saving stoves and small grants, so a standing forest earns a family more than charcoal does. Every grant is agreed in an open village meeting.
We stay small on purpose: four sites we can visit every month, where we know the village chairs by name. Choose a site to see what happens there.
This is how we plan to split each gift in 2026–27. When the year closes, we'll publish what actually happened next to it — including anything we got wrong.
Bring your hands, your company or your next birthday. Each way in comes with a person to talk to, not a form that disappears.
Two-week placements in the nurseries, on mangrove planting days or on night nest patrols.
For companies and foundations: fund a nursery, a stretch of shoreline or a year of turtle monitoring.
Run a race, climb a mountain or ask for gifts to the roots instead of presents.
Monthly gifts let a village plan a whole planting season. One-off gifts are just as welcome, and go into the same open budget.
This is a concept site, so no money moved. WebAxis can connect this form to a real, secure payment page.
Field notes once a month: what we planted, what didn't survive, and what the villages decided next. No spam, unsubscribe any time.
